Law360, New York (February 25, 2013, 7:44 PM ET) -- To help avoid lawsuits over Superstorm Sandy insurance claims, New Jersey is issuing a request for professional services to set up a mediation program for policyholders to resolve homeowners, automobile and commercial property coverage disputes, officials announced Monday.
Under the program, consumers can submit such claims to a mediator, who will review the case and aid settlement discussions, according to Gov. Chris Christie and state Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Ken Kobylowski. Carriers will shoulder the cost of mediation.
