Reports Spur Lawmakers To Call For End To Avandia

Law360, New York (June 29, 2010, 5:20 PM ET) -- On the heels of two new Journal of the American Medical Association reports linking GlaxoSmithKline PLC's Avandia to stroke and heart failure, lawmakers have again called for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to knock the diabetes drug off pharmacy shelves.

“Coupled with the previous findings, these new studies appear to confirm that Avandia is dangerous and should be pulled from the market,” Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., said in a statement.
