Atty Gets 3 Years For Feeding Tips In Galleon Scheme

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 3:05 PM ET) -- A New York federal judge on Friday sentenced plaintiffs' attorney Jason Goldfarb to three years in prison for feeding merger tips from Ropes & Gray LLP attorneys to ex-Galleon Group LLC employee Zvi Goffer, despite a dozen supporters' pleas for leniency.

U.S. District Judge Richard Sullivan called Goldfarb an “energetic participant” in the Goffer scheme, taking issue with his friends and families' testimony that the 33-year-old lawyer only joined in to make money for his mother's cancer treatment.
