Law360, New York (December 05, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The Federal Communications Commission has denied Verizon Telephone Companies' request for immunity from regulations in six metropolitan areas, ruling that it would harm competition in those telephone markets.
The commission voted on Tuesday to reject Verizon's argument that the six cities have such high competition that it should be given forbearance from FCC regulations that require companies to lease networks out at government-set rates.
Verizon said it was disappointed by the decision.
