Law360, New York (February 26, 2013, 12:02 AM ET) -- In-house corporate lawyers last year rated fixed-fee legal pricing the most effective alternative fee model to the straight billable hour, according to an annual Fulbright & Jaworski LLP survey released Tuesday.
Forty-seven percent of U.S.-based general counsel and litigation heads using some kind of alternative fee arrangement, or AFA, gave preset prices the "most effective" rating for accomplishing their fee goals, according to the survey. About a third of respondents also gave the highest rating to capped fees and performance-based fees.
