Law360, New York (October 18, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- In a setback for Google Inc.’s trade-secret lawsuit against Microsoft Corp., a California judge has tentatively stayed Google’s countersuit, setting the stage for Microsoft’s case to go to trial in Washington State.
Washington State law lends more weight to employment non-compete agreements, central to Microsoft’s lawsuit against Google, which was filed in July in Washington State Superior Court. The suit responded to the internet search company’s hiring of former Microsoft executive Kai-Fu Lee to head up its new operations in China.
