Law360, New York (November 19, 2015, 11:39 AM EST) -- In recognition of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, flags were flown, green light bulbs glowed, parades were organized, and ceremonies were observed. It's right, of course, that we should honor the vital contributions of the military veterans we consider heroes. But these tributes and displays of patriotism are not nearly enough and, as President Obama observed, these tributes ring hollow if we don't also do the right thing by real veterans with real problems. The truth is that while the United States celebrates veterans once a year, we are failing veterans on a massive scale, every hour of every day. Honoring their service and their sacrifices should not be an annual event, but a way of life. Given the many legal difficulties veterans face, lawyers can best accomplish this through pro bono service....
