Law360, New York (October 17, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- More than a dozen major U.S. title insurers have been hit with another putative class action, this time by Delaware consumers, alleging they set inflated rate prices in breach of federal antitrust laws.
The lawsuit, filed by residents in the state's district court on Thursday, claims the insurance companies — many of which are members of the Delaware Title Insurance Rating Bureau — are unlawfully permitted to collectively, and automatically, fix rates for customers in the state without scrutiny.
