Md. Requires Insurers To Report Slavery Dealings

Law360, New York (April 16, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Insurers who want to do business in Maryland are now required to disclose information about their slavery-era policies, according to a new law that passed through the state Legislature without significant opposition.

Maryland Senate Bill 751, signed into law Tuesday by Gov. Martin O'Malley, is called "Insurance – Slavery Era Insurance Policies – Reporting" and requires insurers to report relevant information to the state's insurance commissioner.
