Law360, New York (April 18, 2011, 10:29 PM ET) -- A putative class action filed Monday in federal court in Florida against Kraft Foods Inc. and Hormel Foods Corp. alleges that the companies' fat-free percentage claims on certain products mislead and deceive consumers.
The retail labels on Hormel and Kraft-owned Oscar Mayer deli meats tout fat-free percentages ranging from 95 to 98 percent, when the products "actually contain more than 10 times those stated amounts of fat," according to the suit filed by named plaintiff Brad Kuenzig in the Middle District of Florida.
