ConAgra Sued Over '100% Natural' Oils

Law360, New York (July 14, 2011, 5:39 PM ET) -- ConAgra Foods Inc. was hit Thursday with a putative class action in New Jersey accusing it of mislabeling its Wesson-brand cooking oils as “100% Natural” when in fact they are made from genetically modified plants and grains.

The suit alleges the products are made from genetically modified organisms and thus are not all-natural as claimed, causing customers to think they are purchasing something they are not. Since at least 2005, it says, the company has been falsely advertising its products as 100 percent natural.
