Canadian Fitness Giant Settles Robocall Claims

Law360, New York (August 25, 2011, 4:36 PM ET) -- GoodLife Fitness Centres Inc., Canada's largest fitness center company, has agreed to pay $300,000 to settle allegations by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission that it used robocalls to contact members without their consent, the country's industry minister announced Tuesday.

A CRTC investigation found that from May to December 2010, GoodLife called its members by using automated dialing and announcing devices without their consent, violating CRTC regulations.
