Verizon Introduces Geo-Targeted Ad Program

Law360, New York (October 13, 2011, 4:57 PM ET) -- Verizon Communications Inc. is changing its privacy policy to accommodate a new advertising program that will allow businesses to target consumers based on their physical address, but will let customers opt out of the program.

Verizon spokesman William Kula told Law360 on Thursday that customers won't receive hyper-local advertising for several weeks, until all affected users are notified. The company began notifying customers in early September, according to Kula.
