Target's Toning Shoe Ads Deceptive: Suit

Law360, New York (February 27, 2012, 6:27 PM ET) -- Target Corp. deceived its consumers by claiming its line of TrimStep toning shoes improved a wearer’s fitness and posture, even though scientific studies discredit those statements, according to a putative class action removed Friday to Minnesota federal court.

 

The Minneapolis-based retailer led its consumers to believe the line of Target-brand TrimStep shoes, which feature either a rounded “rocker bottom” or balance ball-inspired “pod bottom,” would tone and strengthen legs while reducing stress on joints, plaintiff Erin M.
