Law360, New York (April 27, 2012, 6:21 PM ET) -- The Federal Communications Commission voted Friday to pass a rule to shield consumers from unauthorized third-party charges on their landline phone bills known as "crammed" charges, which the FCC said come in small amounts and often go unnoticed by customers.
Under the new rules, which do not apply to cellphone providers, telephone companies must inform customers of their option to block third-party charges from their bills.
