Texas AG Fights State Farm Suit Over Gulf Coast Policies

Law360, New York (May 01, 2012, 7:47 PM ET) -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott on Tuesday vowed to continue to investigate State Farm Lloyds Inc.'s recent proposal to deny renewed coverage to 11,000 Gulf Coast homeowners despite the insurer's lawsuit protesting the civil subpoenas.

The State Farm unit, which is the largest issuer of homeowners insurance in Texas, sued the attorney general on Thursday in Travis County court, asking for the civil investigative demands to be set aside until the Texas Department of Insurance completes its own investigation.
