Kroger Unit Illegally Distributed Customer Info, Suit Says

Law360, Los Angeles (June 07, 2012, 6:18 PM ET) -- A Ralphs Grocery Co. customer launched a putative class action in California state court Wednesday, accusing the Kroger Co. subsidiary of unlawfully acquiring and sharing his personal information after he signed up for the chain's rewards card program.

Ralphs offers the rewards cards to customers as a means of obtaining exclusive discounts and other benefits. To sign up, customers need to provide personal information including their phone number and email address, according to the complaint.
