NY AG Tells Insurer, Medical Practice To Issue $1M Refunds

Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 11:17 PM ET) -- A health insurance firm and medical practice in New York will pay up to $500,000 apiece for separate misconduct involving improper customer billing practices, the state’s attorney general said Tuesday.

In one case, Group Health Inc., an EmblemHealth Inc. subsidiary with more than 1 million customers, billed patients for services that should have been provided free of charge, New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman said.
