Google Exits, Apple Remains In App Data Tracking MDL

Law360, New York (June 13, 2012, 9:42 PM ET) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday allowed Google Inc. to exit a consolidated putative class action accusing it of violating consumer privacy laws by offering smartphone apps that allegedly track user data, but forced Apple Inc. to continue defending itself against some claims.

In addition to Google, U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh also dismissed Admob Inc., Flurry Inc., AdMarval Inc. and Medialets Inc. from the amended complaint, but allowed the claims against Apple for violations of California’s unfair competition law and Consumer Legal Remedies Act...
