Law360, New York (June 28, 2012, 3:19 PM ET) -- Democratic lawmakers continued their push Thursday for broad online privacy legislation, saying efforts by the industry to self-regulate against unauthorized data collection may not be strong enough to fully protect consumers.
During a Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee hearing, Chairman Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va., supported moving forward on privacy legislation this year, expressing doubts about the industry's ability to adequately protect consumers' data absent a legislative mandate.
