British Airways' Flyer Profiling Draws Privacy Backlash

Law360, New York (July 06, 2012, 9:47 PM ET) -- British Airways on Thursday unveiled a new customer service system that will allow it to pull photos and other information from Google to expedite passenger identification, a system critics argue could violate privacy rights laid out in local data protection law.

Under the “Know Me” program, the airline will create dossiers of passenger information — including travel history, meal requests and details of previous complaints — and will use Google Images to find pictures and other information to link to these profiles to help the staff...
