Law360, New York (July 26, 2012, 8:07 PM ET) -- Hours after the White House voiced its support, the U.S. Senate voted 84-11 on Thursday to proceed with cybersecurity legislation aimed at warding off high-tech threats to power plants, financial markets and other parts of the nation’s “critical infrastructure.”
The cloture vote on the motion to proceed came shortly after the Obama administration issued a statement saying it “strongly supports” passage of the Cybersecurity Act of 2012, which senators retooled last week to address privacy concerns and eliminate certain mandatory security standards.
