Law360, New York (June 21, 2012, 2:11 PM ET) -- Boston-based chemical and materials maker Cabot Corp. has worked out a $1.1 billion deal with European private equity houses Doughty Hanson & Co. and Euroland Investments BV for a Dutch specialty chemical company, the parties announced Thursday.
The purchase of Norit NV — one of the world’s biggest producers of activated carbon, a chemical used in a range of purification processes from waste treatment to gold recovery — advances Cabot’s mission to narrow its focus on specialized chemicals, according to statements from the companies.
