Carlyle Gains Controlling Stake In Brazil Furniture Co.

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 12:31 PM ET) -- The Carlyle Group snapped up a controlling stake in Brazil's top specialty furniture retailer, the pair said Thursday, the latest in a recent flurry of acquisitions for the Washington-based private equity firm.

Under the deal's terms, Carlyle bought a 60 percent interest in family-owned Tok&Stok, which leads the Brazilian specialty furniture market in sales. Founders Ghislaine and Regis Dubrule will hang onto a 40 percent stake in the 34-year-old company, with Ghislaine Dubrule continuing as its CEO, according to the firm.
