Law360, New York (May 22, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- Thousands of New Orleans property owners will have to go it alone in their claims against Lafarge North America Inc., a federal judge has said in an order denying their bid for class certification.
The owners of about 15,000 Ninth Ward properties wanted class certification in a suit that claims their homes and businesses were damaged and people were injured and killed after levee breaches during Hurricane Katrina. The plaintiffs allege that a cement barge that crashed into a levee during the hurricane caused the breaches....
