Acer Pulls Aspire Laptops Due To Burn Risk

Law360, New York (January 11, 2010, 3:04 PM ET) -- Acer America Corp. is recalling 22,000 laptop computers because of a glitch that could cause the computers to overheat and potentially burn consumers.

The American unit of the Taiwan-based computer giant announced the voluntary recall Thursday after receiving several reports of the computers’ outer casing melting from overheating, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

Though Acer said no injuries had been reported and that none of the three reported incidents occurred in the U.S., the company is taking preemptive measures to take the affected laptop...
