Lawmakers Hold Toyota's Feet To The Fire Over Recall

Law360, New York (February 03, 2010, 3:54 PM ET) -- House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and oversight and investigations subcommittee chairman Bart Stupak, D-Mich., have directed Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. to provide documents showing that the computer systems on its vehicles are not the cause of the accelerator problem that prompted a massive recall.

In a letter Tuesday, the two congressmen also asked James Lentz, the president and chief operating officer of Toyota in the U.S., to explain discrepancies between his public comments and those made by Toyota officials to committee...
