CPSC OKs Rule On Factors For Civil Safety Fines

Law360, New York (March 16, 2010, 4:27 PM ET) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission approved a final rule Tuesday outlining how the agency interprets the new factors it will consider when setting fines for knowing violations of federal consumer protection laws.

The regulation is part of the rulemaking required by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act — a law signed by President George W.
