Bassett Yanks Baby Cribs Due To Trap Hazard

Law360, New York (November 22, 2010, 6:38 PM ET) -- Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. has voluntarily pulled some 90,000 baby cribs from shelves Monday after learning their drop-side rails can malfunction or detach, creating a space into which infants can fall and become trapped.

The Bassett, Va.-based company — which announced the recall jointly with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission — said consumers should immediately stop using the products.

According to Bassett, the cribs' drop-side rail can malfunction or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to detach from the crib.
