J&J Hit With $1.8M Verdict In Levaquin MDL

Law360, New York (December 08, 2010, 8:08 PM ET) -- A federal jury on Wednesday awarded $1.8 million to a Minnesota man who claimed that taking Johnson & Johnson's antibiotic Levaquin to treat a respiratory infection contributed to tears in his Achilles tendon.

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota hit J&J unit Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. with $700,000 in actual damages and nearly $1.1 million in punitive damages for acting with deliberate disregard for the rights and safety of others in marketing the drug, in two separate special verdicts handed down...
