Trial Patient Sues Abbott Over Humira Cancer Risks

Law360, New York (January 13, 2011, 2:31 PM ET) -- A rheumatoid arthritis patient is alleging Abbott Laboratories is liable for lymphoma she says she developed in a clinical trial for Humira and breached a contract when it failed to warn her about cancer risks associated with the blockbuster drug.

By not informing plaintiff Gayathru Murthy of the drug's risks, Abbott breached the contract she signed to join the clinical trial, according to a complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
