Japan Puts Brakes On US Beef Imports

Law360, New York (February 08, 2011, 2:27 PM ET) -- Japan has put a temporary stop to imports of frozen beef from a Nebraska-based meat processing firm over concerns that the large intestines of the meat may not be up to the standards laid out in a 2005 trade deal.

The suspension relates to frozen beef shipped from Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc., Kyodo News reported Tuesday, citing statements by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
