Law360, New York (April 04, 2011, 7:02 PM ET) -- The Federal Aviation Administration said it would issue an emergency order on Tuesday requiring airlines to inspect their older Boeing Co. 737s for signs of metal fatigue, over worries the fuselage failure that struck a Southwest Airlines plane may be widespread.
About 175 airplanes worldwide will need to be inspected, including 80 in the U.S., the FAA said in a statement Monday evening. Most of the U.S. planes subject to the inspection belong to Southwest, the FAA said.
