Law360, New York (August 08, 2011, 6:07 PM ET) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday launched two separate probes into Ford Motor Co. and Volkswagen of America after receiving reports of problems with Mustang gear shifts and leakage in Jetta fuel lines.
The probes will cover an estimated 26,000 Mustangs and 40,000 Jetta sedans, according to the agency's Office of Defect Investigations. The ODI has received 32 complaints regarding 2011-2012 Ford Mustangs and seven complaints regarding 2011 VW Jettas, according to its preliminary report.
