Zimmer Knee Implant Actions Merged Into MDL

Law360, New York (August 09, 2011, 3:04 PM ET) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created a new MDL in Illinois on Monday, centralizing 28 lawsuits that claim Zimmer Inc.'s NexGen high-flex knee implant components prematurely loosen, causing patients significant pain and loss of movement.

The litigation, brought in 13 districts and centralized in the Northern District of Illinois, concern Zimmer's Cruciate Retaining, Legacy Posterior Stabilized and Gender Solutions femoral components as well as its MIS Tibial component, all of which are used in knee replacement surgery.
