Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 11:04 PM ET) -- Merck & Co. Inc. has reached settlements with Florida, New York and South Carolina in multidistrict litigation over discontinued painkiller Vioxx, according to papers filed Thursday in Louisiana federal court.
In an emergency order, the plaintiffs' steering committee said Merck had settled with the three states and asked the Eastern District of Louisiana to establish an escrow fund for common benefit fees in the MDL. The committee said "payments from Merck to these governmental entities may be imminent."
