Drummond's Coke Pollution Coverage Claims Trimmed

Law360, New York (April 9, 2012, 12:46 PM ET) -- An Alabama federal judge on Thursday cut some of mining giant Drummond Co. Inc.’s counterclaims in a coverage battle with insurers who have largely refused to cover the costs of litigation over pollution from the company’s coke production operations.

St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Co., Travelers Casualty and Surety Co., and United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. have refused to pay Drummond for costs to settle more than two dozen lawsuits alleging liability for certain purported bodily injuries and property damage arising from the coke...
