GAO Finds Gaps In DOD Policies On Base Contamination

Law360, New York (May 03, 2012, 1:59 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Defense is not keeping track of whether officials have taken action to address serious public health risks from environmental contamination at military bases, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a Wednesday report.

The study comes as current and former employees of Camp Lejeune, N.C., are demanding billions of dollars from the government for health injuries allegedly stemming from contaminated water at the base.
