Travelers' Delay Dooms Bid To Control Centex Defense

Law360, New York (May 11, 2012, 8:17 PM ET) -- Travelers Property Casualty Co. of America has lost its right to control the defense of two homeowner class actions against Centex Homes because the insurer failed to immediately defend Centex against the defective-construction actions, a California federal judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Samuel Conti granted Centex's motion for partial summary judgment in a suit Travelers filed seeking control over the defense in five class actions by dozens of California residents.
