FDA Seizes Drugmaker's Unapproved Topical Scar Treatment

Law360, New York (May 22, 2012, 6:10 PM ET) -- Federal marshals acting on behalf of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration have seized an unapproved new corticosteroid produced by a California drugmaker after the company ignored warnings not to market the drug, the FDA said Tuesday.

Acting on a warrant signed by a California federal judge, the marshals on May 9 seized supplies of HybriSil, marketed by Vista, Calif.-based Crescendo Therapeutics LLC as a prescription topical corticosteroid gel to treat scars.

The agency didn't immediately say how much of the drug was seized.
