GM Recalls 4,300 Chevy Malibus Over Airbag Problem

Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 1:19 PM ET) -- General Motors Co. is launching a recall of some 4,304 2013 Chevrolet Malibu sedans because of a software defect that can affect the operation of the cars’ side airbags, a traffic safety regulator said Wednesday.

The manufacturer told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a report it submitted last week that certain Malibu vehicles manufactured between October 2011 and March 2012 may suffer from a flaw that makes a component called the sensing and diagnostic module reset itself after a driver brakes hard.
