Developer Says BP Oil Spill Ruined Housing Complex Sales

Law360, New York (June 08, 2012, 7:05 PM ET) -- A Florida real estate developer filed a federal suit in Louisiana on Friday against BP PLC, Transocean Ltd., Halliburton Energy Services Inc. and other entities involved in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster, claiming the spill caused its Gulf Coast housing development to fail.

The Deltona Corp., an Ocala, Fla.-based developer, said that the companies' reckless profit-seeking conduct led to the spill, causing home sales at Deltona's Sunny Hills development in Washington County in northwest Florida to plummet.
