Law360, San Diego (June 22, 2012, 10:33 PM ET) -- Supporters of a California ballot initiative that sought to increase the tax on cigarettes by $1 a pack to fund research for cancer and tobacco-related diseases conceded defeat Friday after Big Tobacco put up nearly $50 million in a campaign to stamp out the measure.
