Valero Sues KBR Over $5M Sulfur Tank Explosion

Law360, New York (August 06, 2012, 7:24 PM ET) -- A Valero Energy Corp. subsidiary sued KBR Inc. in Texas state court Thursday, blaming the engineering firm and others who built a storage tank for molten sulfur at its Houston refinery for a 2008 explosion that caused more than $5 million in damages.

Valero Refining Texas LP, which operates the refinery, said a third-party investigation it commissioned showed KBR, Mustang Engineers and Contractors LP, and Bay Ltd. are responsible for defects in the storage tank that led to the explosion.
