Flushmate Concealed Risk Of Exploding Toilets, Suit Claims

Law360, New York (August 13, 2012, 6:12 PM ET) -- A putative class of California consumers filed a suit Thursday accusing Flushmate of misleading consumers about defects in its pressurized flushing mechanisms long after learning that the flaws could cause toilets to explode, leading to property damage and serious physical injury.

Lead plaintiff United Desert Charities alleges that Flushmate, its parent company Sloan Valve Co. and toilet manufacturer American Standard failed to properly design and test the Series 503 Flushmate III Pressure-Assist Flushing System, and marketed the toilet as “trouble-free” while failing to disclose to consumers...
