Law360, New York (August 13, 2012, 4:35 PM ET) -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency on Thursday said it wants to implement a new method for food inspection that would create a single licensing and registration requirement for manufacturers, importers and exporters and more consistent oversight.
The proposed changes are part of the agency’s effort to update its system, according to a CFIA statement, which includes a review of the CFIA’s regulatory frameworks and the Safe Food for Canadians Act, tabled in June, which aims to modernize and strengthen food legislation.
