Novartis Wins Bone Drug Injury Suit On Timeliness

Law360, New York (August 31, 2012, 4:07 PM ET) -- A Rhode Island magistrate judge has held that the court should rule in favor of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. in a suit claiming a now-deceased woman allegedly developed a jaw condition from taking the bone drug Aredia, saying the claims are time-barred.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Lincoln Almond recommended on Aug. 28 that Novartis be granted summary judgment in a suit concerning Massachusetts resident Margaret Patterson, who took Aredia from 2000 to 2006 to treat her osteoporosis and developed osteonecrosis of the jaw as a result, according to...
