USDA Warns Of E. Coli Risk In Some Canadian Beef Imports

Law360, New York (September 21, 2012, 5:25 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on Thursday issued a nationwide public health alert following a massive recall of raw boneless beef trim products imported from Canada by XL Foods Inc., saying the products may be contaminated with E. coli.

XL Foods has complied with a voluntary recall of more than 50 selections of beef trimmings, ground beef and other products such as meatloaf, meatballs, beef patties and sausages that were distributed in parts of Canada and in eight U.S. states. The...
