Denso Tells Panel It Can't Be Sued In Texas Toyota Parts Row

Law360, Houston (October 18, 2012, 9:27 PM ET) -- A Japanese maker of parts used in Toyota motor vehicles told a Texas appeals court Thursday that it was not directly involved in the manufacture of defective components that allegedly caused the cars to accelerate unexpectedly and therefore could not be sued.

Arguing before the Fourteenth Court of Appeals, Susan E. Burnett, who represents Denso Corp., said that the company’s American subsidiaries made the parts and that the parent company had no meaningful involvement with the manufacturing process or other U.S. operations, immunizing it from suit....
