Pfizer Won't Face Retrial In Premarin Breast Cancer Suit

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 8:02 PM ET) -- An Arkansas federal judge refused Wednesday to grant a new trial to a woman who claimed Premarin and other menopause hormone therapy drugs by Pfizer Inc. units Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. gave her breast cancer.

U.S. District Judge Billy Roy Wilson upheld a jury's August verdict for Pfizer, rejecting Sondra Welch's claims over juror misconduct and that certain information that a bailiff had shared with the jurors about previous Pfizer hormone therapy drug trials had been prejudicial.
